Imposter in the mirror.

Feel Like a Fraud? How to FINALLY Ditch the Imposter Syndrome

May 29, 20253 min read

Hey,

You’re crushing it.

Building a business, putting yourself out there, maybe even scoring some clients.

But quietly, in the back of your head, there’s this little voice, right?

The one that whispers, “Who are you kidding? You’re not really an expert. Someone’s gonna find out.”

It’s that feeling like you’ve somehow faked your way here, and any minute now, the jig will be up.

Feels kinda heavy, doesn’t it? Like you’re always one step away from being exposed.

If that sounds familiar, you’re definitely not alone.

This “imposter syndrome” thing? It’s everywhere.

Even people you look up to feel it. But here’s the thing: it doesn’t have to hold you back.

Not anymore.

Most people think imposter syndrome means something’s broken in them.

They believe they have to wait until that feeling completely goes away before they can truly feel confident, teach something, or step into bigger opportunities.

It’s like waiting for permission from some internal gatekeeper who keeps moving the goalposts.

The common belief is that success will fix it.

You get more clients, make more money, hit those $10k-$20k months… and then you’ll finally feel worthy.

But honestly?

That’s often not how it works.

You can achieve amazing things and still feel like a fraud.

Why?

Because the success isn’t connecting with the feeling of worthiness inside.

Here’s the shift: you don’t make the feeling of inadequacy go away by hiding more or waiting to feel “ready.”

You deal with it by doing the work anyway.

Think about it: When you started your business, did you know everything?

Of course not!

You learned by doing.

It’s the same with feeling confident.

You build confidence through action, not before it.

Instead of waiting to be a guru, just be a guide.

You’re already one step ahead of someone else.

Share what you’re learning as you go.

Your journey is relatable.

Your struggles are real.

And what feels obvious to you?

That’s often the groundbreaking stuff someone else desperately needs to hear.

And hey, don’t discredit yourself just because you’re teaching things you learned from others.

Synthesizing information and making it easy for someone else to understand is HUGELY valuable.

That’s not faking, that’s serving!

You can also call out that inner critic.

Like Lou Solomon suggests, give it a name. “Miss Doubtfire,” maybe?

Externalize it.

And then create an inner advocate – “Captain Awesome” – who focuses on your wins, no matter how small.

You combat the feelings of inadequacy by gathering EVIDENCE.

Identify your core negative beliefs (“I’m not good enough”) and then actively look for evidence against it every single day for a year.

Did you help a friend?

Did you finish that piece of content?

Log it!

You’re rewiring your brain with proof.

And listen, everyone feels uncertain stepping into new roles.

This is normal.

It means you’re aware you have things to learn.

The smart move isn’t to fake it, it’s to be honest, ask questions (seriously, competent people ask questions!), and keep facing those challenges that make you a little anxious.

That’s how you build resilience.

Ready to start tackling that imposter feeling head-on?

Here’s your mission: Choose ONE of these actions this week.

Just one.

Whichever resonates the most with you.

  • Just Start: If you’ve been putting off sharing something or starting a project because you don’t feel “ready,” start anyway. Record that video. Write that post. Teach ONE thing you know right now.

  • Name Your Critic and Advocate: Give your inner critic a silly name. Then, consciously create an inner voice that celebrates your small wins.

  • Gather Evidence: Identify ONE negative belief you have about yourself (“I’m not capable of hitting $10k/month,” “I’m not creative enough”). Then, for the next 7 days, write down one piece of evidence each day that proves the opposite of that belief.

  • Ask a Question: Are you holding back on asking a question in a group or to a mentor because you’re afraid of looking dumb? Ask it today. Seriously.

Pick one!

Just one small step.

Because you build confidence by taking action, not by waiting for doubt to disappear.

Do it. Stop hiding!
